Frequently asked questions
What is Skipper?
Skipper is a Mac app for running coding agents in parallel. Each session runs Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode in a terminal, in its own git worktree and branch, with the session's pull request status beside it. It is written in Swift with a Rust core.
Which agents does it run?
Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode come with the app. Skipper also runs Pi and Antigravity when they are installed on your Mac. Each agent runs its own command-line tool, so it behaves as it does in your terminal.
Does Skipper use my Claude or ChatGPT plan?
Yes. Skipper runs the vendors' own CLIs with your credentials, so each session uses your Claude or ChatGPT plan, or an API key, with that plan's limits. Skipper does not sell model access.
Can I use more than one account?
Yes, for Claude and Codex. Add as many accounts as you need, see each plan's usage, and choose the account for each session. See multiple accounts.
Do I need a Skipper account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for in the app. You sign in to the agents, and to GitHub if you want pull request status.
What does it require?
A Mac with macOS 26.5 or later and an M1 chip or later, and a Claude or ChatGPT sign-in or an API key for at least one agent. Apple Intelligence is optional. Skipper uses it on your Mac to name sessions.
Where does my code go?
Your repositories and worktrees stay on your Mac. The agents send what they read to Anthropic or OpenAI with your credentials, as they do in a terminal, and your pushes go to GitHub. Skipper does not upload your code or conversations to us.
Does the app send anything to you?
Skipper checks for updates and reads the public status pages of GitHub, Claude, and OpenAI. It also sends crash reports and performance data to Iterator by default. Turn off Share diagnostics in Settings to stop them. When you send a report with Submit Feedback in the Help menu, Skipper sends what you wrote and the screenshots and screen recordings you added, with the app version and Mac model. Your recent activity goes with it only while Share diagnostics is on, or when you turn on Include diagnostics in that report. The privacy policy lists what is sent.
Does it work with GitLab or Bitbucket?
Sessions and worktrees work with any git repository on your Mac. Pull request status, merging, and the pull request list work with GitHub.
Is there a diff viewer?
No. Skipper opens a session's worktree in the tool you already use for diffs, such as Kaleidoscope, Sublime Merge, Visual Studio Code, or Xcode, with ⇧⌘O. The worktree is an ordinary git checkout.
Do agents keep running when I quit?
No. Quitting Skipper stops the agents and their terminals. When you open Skipper again, it restores your tabs and each session resumes its agent's conversation where it left off.
Can agents run in the cloud or on another machine?
No. Every session runs on your Mac.
Does it run on Windows or Linux?
No. Skipper is a Mac app. See the comparisons for tools that run on other platforms.
How much does it cost?
Skipper is free in private beta.
